Planning to sell your home this summer, fall, winter, or any other time of the year? Then it’s time to whip your home into shape and get it ready for the market. After all, you want buyers to be thoroughly impressed with the looks of your home – and they’ll be more inclined to put in a decent offer on your home if they fall in love with it.

That’s why home staging is so important and works so well. It effectively helps buyers develop a strong emotional connection to your home and encourages them to make an offer to make sure they get their hands on it.

Set the stage for a successful sale by implementing any one – or all – of these effective home staging ideas.

Boost Curb Appeal

Before buyers set foot in your home, they’ll have to see the outside of it first. Help encourage them to want to see more by making the exterior of your home look impressive. Make sure your home is ready to draw in buyers by doing the following:

  • Mow the lawn, and add new sod if necessary
  • Plant flowers and shrubs
  • Replace the mailbox or house numbers
  • Wash the windows, walkways, and front porch
    Restain the porch if required

Deck Out Your Dining Table

The dining room is often overlooked when it comes to staging. But you can really wow buyers by setting the table with place settings, dishes and utensils, a table runner, centre arrangement, and even some smaller items along the centre of the table. And if you don’t have a dining room, setting your kitchen table in the same way can work just as well.

Rearrange the Furniture

Many times, you can use the pieces you already have to make a big change for the better. Try symmetrical arrangements in the living room, and pull the furniture off the walls to “float” the pieces if space permits.

Consider pairing pieces, such as sofas and chairs, and use the “rule of three” when grouping like-items together. This can involve grouping vases, candles, or photo frames in groups of three, which has a psychologically positive effect when it comes to styling a space.

Go With Neutral Colours

You might love the idea of bright orange walls, but how many buyers will share the same affinity? Don’t start experimenting with bright colours while your home is set to hit the market.

But that doesn’t mean you have to keep your walls all white or beige, either. Instead, go with sophisticated neutral tones, such as steel blue, grey, taupe, or “greige” (a combo of beige and grey).
