Come on Spring! Create the Perfect Outdoor Space at Home

May 25, 2021

Spring is in full swing, and before you know it, summer will officially arrive. But until then, the weather is cooperating with balmy temperatures and sunny skies. It’s the perfect time to enjoy the outdoors before the sizzling heat arrives!

Now’s the time to get outside and enjoy Mother Nature, and the best way to do that is to create the perfect outdoor oasis to make that happen. Here are a few ideas to help you get started.

Create a Covered Living Space

The sun is great, but you’ll also want a space that gives you a break from all those UV rays. And while you can always use an umbrella, adding a fixed covered space just adds to the luxuriousness of the area.

Build a pergola and cover it in fast-growing climbing plants. Or if the budget permits, consider adding an extension to your home with a rooftop that will provide a more robust covered area to your outdoor space.

Make it Cozy

Add details to your outdoor area to make it cozier. You can infuse little touches like ambient lighting, cheerful accessories, soft furniture pieces, and great textiles.

Go All Out With an Outdoor Kitchen

Take the entire indoor space outside with a full kitchen. Even if you’re on a budget, you can still get started with a BBQ and prep/food/equipment zones to make cooking outdoors super simple and convenient. And while you’re at it, consider installing a mini bar to complete the outdoor setting.

Fill the Space With the Right Plants

Nothing gives an outdoor space the right vibes more than plants. While you may want to plant greenery directly into the ground, you’ll also want to outfit the space with dozens of planters with all the plants and floral arrangements you can muster. These will be especially helpful if you’re working with a smaller space.

Create a Focal Point

Creating a focal point isn’t just an interior design concept for the indoors. You can also use this tactic for your outdoor space. Choose a statement piece that really stands out, like a daybed, loveseat, or bench.

Add an Outdoor Theatre

How awesome would it be to watch your favourite TV show or movie outside under the stars? In addition to the TV or projector, you’ll also want to hang some fairy lights and plush outdoor cushions to complete the space.

Add Layers to a Smaller Space

Adding layers is a great way to work with spaces that are shorter in square footage. Incorporate greenery vertically on outdoor walls, and add shelving with plants to draw the eye up while decorating your outdoor area. Further, choose a variety of garden lighting and lamps and layer them in several ways.
